Avoca Handweavers
Avoca handweavers is highly regarded craft shop that happens to be Ireland's oldest business. Established in 1723, Avoca has a long-standing tradition for its textiles, elevating the utility to a distinctive art form. While most all of Ireland's once proud textile industries have moved overseas in recent years, you can still watch Avoca's artisans hand weaving fine woolen rugs and other fabrics. Avoca is more than a source for fine Irish wool, but also a showcase for a variety of Irish arts and crafts. As well Avoca has made a name for itself for serving delectable treats. Avoca is a lovely place for lunch, serving a variety of fresh fare. Avoca has earned what guidebook author Georgina Cambell describes as "a well deserved reputation for imaginative, wholesome home cooked food."
