Burren Perfumery

Carran, Co. Clare

Located in the heart of the Burren outside the village of Carran near Kinvara, the Burren Perfumery has for over 30 years produced a range of natural aromatherapy products and fragrances, extracted from the indigenous plants of the Burren, one of the most unique floral landscapes in the world.

At the Burren Perfumery, each of the products are made by hand, using traditional methods from steam distillation to hand bottling. Visitors to the Burren Perfumery can see all of the different processes involved and sample the products firsthand with the help of its friendly staff. The Burren Perfumery has an outstanding audio visual presentation and photographic exhibition.

Visitors to the Burren Perfumery can also explore the idyllic setting of the organic herb garden, with its large range of native organic herbs that are used for the hand-made soaps and aromatherapy products. There is also a fabulous tea room, where visitors can sample a selection of freshy baked organic cakes, garden soups, while sipping a exotic variety of teas or coffee. The food at Burren Perfumery Tea Rooms is home baked goodness, featuring fresh local produce and tasty artisan treats. On a nice day, sitting outside among the chirping birds, the tea room is simply blissful.

If You Go: The Burren Perfumery is open daily throughout the year. Hours of operation are 9am to 7pm Jun - Aug; 9am to 6pm, May - Sep; and 9am to 5pm Oct - Apr; January by appointment. Tea Rooms are open April - Sept, daily from 10am to 5pm.
