Green Wood Chairs

Artist Alison Ospina brings her unique passion and sensitivities to the fine art of chair making, deriving materials from green, unseasoned Hazel and inspiration from Nature.

The overriding ethic imbued in Alison's art is that of awesome respect and appreciation for nature. Each piece of Hazel is cut is harvested in a sustainable fashion, such that wood grows back within seven years.

For Artist Alison Ospina, hazel is her raw material and each piece tells a unique story about nature and climate. Discover components that work together, whether in the woods or in the studio, is half the pleasure of producing her works of art. Alison Ospina's work represented in several fine galleries and craft shops throughout West Cork.

Green Wood Chairs offers beginners courses in chair making, allowing people with little or no woodwork experience to create a unique piece of furniture. Chair making courses are conducted over 3 days. Participants need not have any woodworking experience. Each participant leaves the workshop with a finished piece to to sit in, a great source of pride and fabulous memento from an inspired three days in beautiful West Cork.
