Cahir Castle

Situated on a rocky island on the River Suir in County Tipperary, Cahir Castle is an impressive fortress that was once the stronghold of the powerful Butler family. At present Cahir Castle retains its impressive keep, tower and much of its original defensive structure. It is one of Ireland's largest and best preserved castles. The castle's attractions include an excellent audio-visual show that informs visitors of all the main sites of the area as well as several exhibitions.
If You Go: Cahir Castle is open from 9:30-16:30 during the winter months, till 17.30 during the shoulder season and till 19.00 hrs during summer months. Admission in 2008 is Adult: €2.90; Sen/Group: €2.10; Child/Student: €1.30; and Family: €7.40
