Reginald's Tower
Waterford, Waterford
Reginald's Tower in the Waterford city centre in County Waterford is a restored 12th century round tower, originally part of the town's defences and later used as a mint, a prison and a military store. The tower is the oldest complete building in Ireland and the first to use mortar. It was built by the Normans in the 12th century on the site of a Viking wooden tower.
Currently, the Tower Museum has several exhibits and a section of the old wall is incoporated into Reginald's bar and restaurant.
If You Go: Reginald's Tower is open daily Apr-Oct 10:00-17:00 and open Wed-Sun Nov-Apr 10:00-17:00. There is a very minimal fee.
