Vandeleur Walled Garden & Centre

Set amid beautiful old stone walls is the forgotten garden of the Vandeleur Estate. Vandeleur is a sheltered garden, once the forgotten garden of Kilrush House, home to the Vandeleur landlords. Revived and restored to its former glory, Vandeleur Garden is now an oasis of tender and tropical plants.

Replanting the borders that line the walls began in the spring of 2000 and the Vandeleur Walled Garden has now been re-designed for the 21st century around the old path system. Vandeleur Garden specializes in many unusual and tender plants that thrive in the area�s uniquely western latitude microclimate. While restoration work is now complete, Vandeleur Gardens has an ongoing commitment to future development and enjoys strong support on a local and national level. In recent years, various improvement projects have taken place, including attractive visitor information boards and completion of the Vandeleur glasshouse.

For visitors to Ireland, Vandeleur Gardens is an ideal stopover when traveling from Kerry to Clare via the Killimer to Tarbert car ferry. On the grounds of Vandeleur Gardens are also Coffee Shop, Gift Shop, Conference Suite, and a Plant Sales shop. Vandeleur Gardens also holds numerous special events throughout the year such as art and craft exhibitions, musical recitals, family festivals and historical lectures. Part of a heritage exhibition entitled 'Kilrush in Landlord Times' is also on display throughout the Vandeleur centre.

If You Go: Vandeleur Walled Gardens are open all year. During the summer months, its open daily from 10.00 - 18.00 hrs. And during the offseason Vandeleur is open 10.00 - 17.00 hrs. Admission is �5.00 for adults and �2.00 for children, and �10.00 for families.
