Dan O'Hara's Heritage Centre
Set in the wilds of Connemara just a few miles outside of Clifden in Co. Galway, Dan O'Hara's is an award winning heritage centre that vividly depicts pre-famine conditions in the West of Ireland, restaurant and Craft Shop
Dan O'Hara's Heritage Centre is set on a working farm and restored cottage and Illustrating life in Connemara before the famine. Animals on the farm include Connemara ponies, donkeys, cattle and sheep. Visitors can also step back in time a visit a Crannóg, (pre-historic lake dwelling) Ringfort and Clocahaun (early Christian Oratory).
Guided tours of the centre are available by prior appointment and are both entertaining and educational. Demonstrations of Turf Cutting, Shearing, Thatching and other activities are available.
Dan O'Hara's Heritage Centre also includes a Craft shop that sells a large selection of knitwear, marble, jewellery and other gifts. And Dan O'Hara's Restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner.
