St. Stephen's Green
Set in the heart of Dublin City Cetre, Stephen's Green is Ireland's best known Victorian public park, lush with finely manicured gardens, woodlands and waterways that cover some 9 hectres ( 22 acres ), with over 3.5 km of pathways.
The original Victorian layout of St Stephen's Green contains extensive perimeter tree and shrub planting, spectacular spring and summer Victorian bedding. The herbaceous border also provides colour from early spring to late autumn. in the center of the park there are two Victorian era shelters. Stephen's Green was reopened by Lord Ardilaun in 1880 for the citizens of Dublin and has remained a fixture of Dublin City Life ever since.
Thousands of people utilize the tranquility of St. Stephen's Green every day, with over 3.5 km of pathways for stretching the lakes and countless little quiet nooks for taking lunch or luxuriating with a blanket.
As a tourist there are several features worth noting. The waterfall and Pulham rock work on the western side of the green are worth of a visit likewise the ornamental lake which provides a home for waterfowl and a garden for the visually impaired. A number of sculptures are located throughout the green. A children's playground is a popular attraction of the park. Lunchtime concerts are performed during the summer months.
Stephen's Green is managed by the Office of Public Works.
