Set outside the village of Saintfield in County Down, Rowallane Garden is a true plantsman's garden in an informal style – with trees, shrubs and plants from around the world.

Rowallane Garden is a place for gardening enthusiasts, especially those who enjoy a more wild and natural approach to gardening. The garden sympathetically retains natural landscape of surrounding area. The Walled garden includes the National Collection of penstemons. Several other areas are managed as wildflower meadows.

One of the noteworthy attractions of Rowallane Garden is the spectacular azaleas and rhododendrons. Also notable are the natural Rock Garden Wood with Primulas, Meconopsis and shade-loving plants.

Rowallane Garden is a great place for a stroll. They've recently added two new walks, the Farmland Walk and Woodland Walk, allowing visitors to further explore Rowallane Garden.

There is a tea room on premises serving teas, coffees and baked goods, and light lunches.

If You Go:

Rowallane Garden is daily open year round. From Mid April through mid september hours of operation are 10 am - 8 pm, while offseason hours are 10 - 4.00pm. Closed 25/26 Dec & 1 Jan 09. Tel. for tea-room opening times. Last admission 30mins before closing
