Man of Aran Cottage

Set on the far side of the Island of Inishmore on the Aran Islands in Co. Galway, The Man of Aran Cottage provides a unique and authentic bed and breakfast experience in a rustic cottage with five guest rooms.

Hosts Joe and Maura Wolfe welcome guests to their Island retreat, set out across a few cottages. The cottages are cozy and well maintained with an old world charm that has to be experienced to truly be appreciated.

The setting for Man of Aran Cottage is simply stunning, in Kilmurvey on the far side of the island, at the base of the famed Dun Aonghasa and overlooking a stunning white sand beach. Man of Aran Cottage is the kind of place you dream of stumbling upon on your tour of Ireland: a peaceful and romantically wind-swept retreat, rustic and delightfully charming.

Man of Aran Cottage also operates a small restaurant for guests. Joe is an avid organic gardener with nearly half the acre of land surrounding the cottage under cultivation. While Maura is native to the Aran Isles though she spent many years of her life in London, England, where she trained as a chef and employed her skills at Buckingham Palace. Meals would feature homemade soups, stews, and breads and organic salads from the garden.

While Inis Mor attracts its share of tourists Man of Aran Cottage, set out on the far side of the Island outside the village of Kilmurvey, remains blissfully removed. As a whole the island is sparsely populated with very few autos. Bikes provide the primary mode of transportation, though taxis can certainly be arranged. There are plenty of rugged shoreline to explore and the famed cliffside stone fort, Dun Aonghasa, is only fifteen minutes walk from Man of Aran.
