Creagh House
Set in the historic town of Doneraile in North Co. Cork, Creagh House is a fine, large Regency town house built in 1837 with four guest rooms, fabulous ornate detailing, antiques and other period charms.
Creagh House is a fabulous historic accommodation, set in a listed building that dominates the main street of Doneraile in north County Cork, a town known for its numerous antique shops. Built for the prosperous Creagh family from the neighbouring Creagh Castle estate, the house has stately reception rooms and large bright bedrooms. Many of main rooms are vast in size with decorated ceilings of beautifully restored plasterwork.
Today Creagh House is a relaxed family home, owned by Michael O'Sullivan and Laura O'Mahony and their young daughter Alice, who have thoroughly restored the house and opened it to overnight guests. Each of the four guest rooms are spacious and well appointed, and decorated with period decor. Guests enjoy the exclusive use of the stately drawing room for tea or drinks, and the equally sized dining room for supper or breakfast. Out back the extensive gardens are also being restored, providing a further amenity for guests.
Since Creagh House is a town house, dinner is not usually served but a light meal and drinks are normally available and there are many fine restaurants within a short drive.
The nearby park at Doneraile Court provides a peaceful riverside stroll. For more serious walkers there are many signed walkways in the Ballyhoura Mountains.
