Longueville Mushroom Hunt
Don your wellies and hike around the 500 acre Longueville Estate in search of elusive mushrooms. Held each october, Mushroom hunting is an annual tradition at Longueville House. Proprietor and renowned Chef William O'Callaghan, along with a local mushroom expert (mycologist) Jim Fraiser, lead the group wandering among the woods and fields of the estate. The journey is relaxed, enjoyable and highly informative, as participants learn the various edible and non-edible varieties of mushrooms.
Guests return from the mushroom hunt and cozy up next to the fire relax with a mulled wine, while Wiliam and his crew prepare an enticing feast, utilizing the mushrooms harvested that day along with the array of meats and vegetables produced at Longueville.
Longueville House produces a dazzling variety of food, produced among the Walled Garden, Apple Orchards, surrounding farm lands, and nearby salmon river, so whatever the evening dinner may bring it will be fresh and fabulous!
If You Go: Longueville Mushroom Hunt is held annually over two weekends in October, part of a two night accommodation package. The dates for the 2008 Mushroom Hunt are 4 October and 19 October.
