Doonbeg Golf Club

Doonbeg, Co. Clare

Doonbeg Golf Club is an extraordinary links course located among the windswept sand dunes of County Clare Ireland has in a few short years entered the pantheon of Irish golf. Playing Doonbeg is like walking among a nature sanctuary. Special attention has been played by the Greg Norman Design Team to work with nature, minimizing impacts and enhancing the course's overall aesthetic. The team has employed a "least disturbance" philosophy at the Doonbeg Golf Club. Fairways are maintained as nature created in the contours. This has enhanced both the natural environment and the golfing landscape. Doonbeg remains one of the most stunning links courses in Ireland, indeed the world. The ocean is visible from the green, fairway, or tee of 16 of the 18 holes. The par 72 layout features a single loop of nine holes out and nine back. It plays 6,885 yards from the back tees. The only disappointment golfers face at the end of their rounds at Doonbeg is fretting over when then they can make it back again.

Our Take on Doonbeg Golf Club

Doonbeg is one of those courses that lives up to its hype. And there's been great hype made, for in its four years since opening this course has made a big name for itself. Prices are dear, but no golfer walks away disappointed, except in the realization that their day at Doonbeg has come to a close.
