Cassidys Pub

Carran, Co. Clare

Set outside the small village of Carran in the heart of the Burren in County Clare sits Cassidys, a landmark pub and restaurant that seems so absolutely at home in a rugged, timeless landscape. Established in 1830, Cassidys is situated in a former Royal Irish Constabulary Barracks, Cassidys has an authentic and charmed atmosphere, with rough wood floors and stone walls. For nearly 200 years Cassidys has been serving quality food and libation. Friendly staff, home baking, creamy Guinness, ripping trad sessions: sounds like a recipe for success! And let us not forget its charmed location.

When so many establishments claim to be in the ?heart of the Burren,? Cassidys Pub delivers in spades. The view alone is worth a trip to Cassidys. Large and spacious windows provide commanding views of the Carron Turlough (disappearing lake)and a ruggedly beautiful Burren landscape. Cassidys is an ideal place to unwind after a walk in the Burren. Yet if you?re staying anywhere nearby, every Saturday night Cassidys offers a spot-on session of Irish trad music, claiming the ?best traditional session in Clare,? a tall promise in this music rich region.

Cassidys is an ideal place to begin and end a trek in the Burren, or a place to taxi up to, should you find yourself staying in nearby Kinvara or Ballyvaughan, especially on a Saturday night.

If You Go: Cassidys food menu is served until 9:00 pm weekdays and 6:00 pm on Sundays. The Restaurant is open all day from April to October.
