Eldon's Hotel
Set in Roundstone Village in the heart of Connemara, Eldon's Hotel is an intimate family run guesthouse with 19 guest rooms, Beola restaurant, and traditionally styled pub.
Formally the home of the Eldon family and the local post office in Roundstone dating back to 1898, the premises opened as a hotel in 1991, under the leadership of Joe & Ann Connelly who ran the place for nearly 15 years. Control was passed on in 2006 to sisters Michelle Mc Carthy & Lorraine Cunningham, who've added youthful idealism and vitality to the mix.
Eldons Hotel has 19 rooms, both standard and superior providing all the facilities todays visitors expect. Rooms are basic and comfortable and some boast lovely views of the village and harbour.
Roundstone village continues to enchant guests, with Connemara's famous Twelve Pins and Maumturk mountains providing a dramatic backdrop to this picturesque harbour with the remnants of an active fishing fleet.
Adjoining Eldons Hotel is our "Beola Restaurant," serving an a la carte seafood menu that specializes in fresh seafood and locally sourced ingredients.Head Chef David O’Neill's motto with his food is "keeping it simple” in order to enjoy the food itself. Nice summer evenings guests are able to enjoy al fresco dining on the tables overlooking the village, while cold wet evenings the warm glow of a Connemara turf fire beckons. During summer season "Beola Restaurant" is open Tue-Sunday 6.30pm-10.00pm.
Eldon's has a small, quaint bar on premises. Decorated with mahonogy wood in a traditional Irish style, it provides an atmospheric setting to socialize or enjoy a light meal from its decent pub grub, which includes fish and chips, salmon, chowder and the like. Food is served in the bar daily from 12-9pm. Sitting next to the bar's cosy fireplace with its Connemara turf fires is a fabulous place to relax and watch the world go by. During the summer months there is traditional live Irish Music during the weekend and every Wednesday night. During winter months sessions are much more impromptu, though if you're lucky you could be treated to one.
Open from mid March until early January, Eldon's has been recommended by such guidebooks as the Rough Guide and Fodors. Eldon's accepts all major credit cards.
