Tralee Golf Club
Set along Barrow Strand amid the spectacular backdrop of Mount Brandon and the Sliebh Mish Mountains, Tralee Golf Club is a jewel of a championship links course designed by Arnold Palmer in 1984. The course has a timeless feel about it, its rugged terrain carving its way among the cliffs and dunes. And of course the wild, ever-present Atlantic Ocean. It is said that Tralee requires two rounds: one for the scenery and one for the golf. Of course the same can be said for most Irish links courses, but Tralee truly shines.
Tralee Golf Course was the first European golf course designed by Arnold Palmer. When he first saw the area upon which his company was to build Tralee golf links, he was ecstatic about the possibilities. "I have never come across a piece of land so ideally suited for the building of a golf course" he said. "I designed the first nine but surely God designed the back nine", Palmer explained.
Regarded as one of the Top 100 courses of the world by Golf World magazine, Tralee is a masterful creation. Each hole at Tralee presents its own particular golfing challenge. Particularly famous holes include the par 5 second hole, the par 3 third, and the par 4 eighth. The treacherous traps and undulating greens at Tralee all add up to make Tralee a course you want to play again and again.
