Heywood Gardens
Heywood Gardens was designed by Sir Edward Lutyens, a renowned architect of his day. Completed in 1912, the property consists of a series of interlinked gardens, taking in lakes, woodland and distinctive architectural features.
Heywood Gardens is elegant and inspired creation of landscape architecture. Heywood Gardens is one of four gardens in Ireland designed by Lutyen and is considered one of his finest achievements.
The Gardens are composed of four elements linked by a terrace that ran along the front of the house which now no longer exists. A central formal lawn flanked by herbaceous borders overlooks the undulating park and countryside. A pavilion presides over walled enclosures and terraces that descend to a central pool. There's also a series of small gardens enclosed by yew hedges.
